Dogecoin Price Forecast: DOGE bulls look for a potential bottom as retail interest holds steady

  • A tight $0.0750 to $0.0800 trading range keeps Dogecoin in consolidation, mirroring the limited prospects across the wider crypto market.
  • With perpetual futures open interest at 14.7 billion, trading in Dogecoin derivatives appears to be settling.
  • Despite weak technical momentum signals, Dogecoin could recover provided support at the bottom of its range holds.

Support at $0.0750 and supply at $0.0800 define Tuesday’s sideways trading range for Dogecoin (DOGE). A persistently neutral-to-bearish mood continues to shape the meme coin’s outlook, with macroeconomic concerns ahead of Wednesday’s Federal Reserve (Fed) interest rate decision adding to the caution.

Rates are widely expected to stay within the 3.75-4.00% range. Alongside the decision, traders will scrutinise Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s post-meeting press conference for indications of the policy outlook, against a backdrop of stubborn inflation and the effects of wider geopolitical tensions on oil and energy prices.

In an analysis report sent by email, Crypto Finance described the significance of the meeting: “Wednesday's Fed meeting is the key macro event,” adding, “We expect rates to remain unchanged.”

Economists expect a rate increase in December after October’s likely hold. September saw the Fed raise rates for the first time in three years, highlighting its efforts to lower inflation to the 2% target.

Crypto Finance also noted: “Markets currently price a 90% probability of a skip, followed by a December hike and two further hikes by year-end 2027, taking the target range to 4.50-4.75%,”

Dogecoin retail trading activity steadies

Tuesday’s futures open interest (OI) of 14.68 billion DOGE represents only a slight decline from 14.73 billion DOGE a day earlier, leaving the derivatives market broadly steady. Since 21 October, OI has remained below the 15 billion DOGE mark, with its lowest reading at 18.64 billion. Retail participation will be closely watched: a sustained rise in OI could underpin a recovery over the short to medium term. A decline in retail activity, however, could leave the downside as the path of least resistance, pushing traders to focus on lower support at $0.0750 and $0.0700, respectively.

Technical analysis: Dogecoin moves towards consolidation as selling pressure subsides

At $0.0777, Doge remains below every key exponential moving average (EMA) and the active SuperTrend line, maintaining its bearish bias. Overhead, the 50-day EMA at $0.0841 and 100-day EMA at $0.0845 suggest limited upside, while the 200-day EMA at $0.0908 adds weight to the broader bearish structure.

Resistance continues to be signalled by the SuperTrend at $0.0876. Meanwhile, a Relative Strength Index (RSI) reading of around 36 points to lacklustre momentum rather than outright oversold conditions, allowing scope for further losses should sellers retain control.

Daily DOGE/USDT chart

The descending trendline near $0.0825 provides the first resistance level. Beyond it, clearing the cluster of short- and medium-term EMAs around $0.0840-$0.0845 would be necessary to relieve near-term selling pressure. The next hurdle is the SuperTrend near $0.0876, followed by the 200-day EMA at $0.0908, a significant structural ceiling for any stronger recovery.

The indicators currently shown on the daily chart identify no clear technical support close to the price. Intraday traders are therefore likely to assess reactions to the overhead resistance levels for signs of whether the gradual decline can stabilise or give way to further losses.

On the weekly chart, DOGE’s near-term outlook remains bearish. However, the RSI reading of 43 lies in neutral-to-soft territory, supporting a period of sideways consolidation before another attempt at recovery.

Weekly DOGE/USDT chart

The simple moving average forming the centre of the Bollinger Bands offers initial resistance at $0.0806. Next comes the descending resistance trendline at $0.0888, followed by the upper Bollinger band near $0.0977 and the 50-EMA at $0.1062. Immediate downside support is provided by the lower Bollinger band around $0.0634. While the price remains beneath the $0.0806-$0.0888 zone, upward moves are likely to face a ceiling, leaving the pair exposed to another test of that lower volatility boundary.

Open interest and funding rates: frequently asked questions

An increase in open interest is linked to greater liquidity and fresh capital entering the market. It is viewed as a sign of improved efficiency and a continuation of the prevailing trend. Falling open interest, by contrast, is interpreted as evidence of liquidation: investors are withdrawing and overall demand for the asset is weakening, fostering bearish sentiment.

By raising the liquidation risks traders face, funding fees narrow the gap between an asset’s spot price and its futures contract prices. A persistently high, positive funding rate points to bullish sentiment among market participants and expectations of a price rise. Conversely, a persistently negative rate signals bearish sentiment: traders anticipate a fall in the cryptocurrency’s price, and a reversal into a bearish trend is likely.
