Dogecoin Price Forecast: Whales and new deal fail to reverse DOGE weakness

  • Below $0.081, Dogecoin stays under pressure on Thursday. A modest rebound earlier this week has offered limited relief.
  • Accumulation of DOGE tokens by some whale wallets is evident in Santiment data.
  • Weakening technical momentum still constrains DOGE, despite Wednesday’s announcement of a partnership between Dogecoin Labs and the Dogecoin Foundation.

Below $0.081, Dogecoin (DOGE) remains under pressure on Thursday. The modest rebound earlier this week has not removed that pressure. Signs of accumulation in Santiment data and Wednesday’s announcement of a Dogecoin Labs partnership with the Dogecoin Foundation provide a mildly bullish backdrop.

The meme coin’s recovery nevertheless faces constraints from mixed derivatives signals and deteriorating momentum indicators.

170 million DOGE accumulated by whales

Buying by some large-wallet holders, known as whales, is helping cushion DOGE’s decline. Santiment’s Supply Distribution data therefore points to a mildly bullish outlook.

Since Tuesday, wallets holding between 1 million and 10 million tokens (yellow line) and between 10 million and 100 million tokens (blue line) have accumulated 170 million DOGE tokens. That buying has supported a modest recovery.

Dogecoin Labs brings product teams under one organisation

Products, intellectual property and development teams supporting the Dogecoin ecosystem are being brought together in one independent organisation. Dogecoin Labs said on Wednesday that it had been formed in partnership with the Dogecoin Foundation.

The DogeOS press release stated: “Led by CEO Jordan Jefferson, founder of MyDoge and DogeOS, Labs will combine application infrastructure, consumer distribution and development expertise to build an economy around DOGE at the scale of its global community,”

Both the Dogecoin Foundation and House of Doge are contributing intellectual property and development teams. Dogecoin Labs will own and operate MyDoge, DogeOS and Such App.

By simplifying development, reinforcing ecosystem infrastructure and broadening DOGE’s real-world uses, these partnerships could underpin a bullish long-term outlook.

0.80 long-to-short ratio signals recovery constraints

At 0.80 on Thursday, CoinGlass’ DOGE long-to-short ratios are close to their lowest level in over a month. The derivatives readings point to caution towards the meme coin. A ratio below one signals bearish sentiment, with traders positioning for asset prices to decline.

A mildly bullish signal comes from Dogecoin funding rates, however. After turning positive on Monday, they stood at 0.0055% on Thursday, showing that long positions are paying short positions.

On-chain signals point to caution

A bearish picture emerges from CryptoQuant’s summary data for Dogecoin. Large whale orders feature in DOGE’s futures markets, while both spot and futures markets show overheating conditions. Sellers also dominate both markets, highlighting a cautious, bearish bias among traders in the dog-themed meme coin.

$0.080 Dogecoin technical outlook: Momentum stays weak

At $0.080 on Thursday, Dogecoin remains below its main Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), maintaining a bearish near-term bias. Overhead supply is concentrated around the 100-day EMA at roughly $0.085, the 50-day EMA at roughly $0.086 and the previously breached ascending trendline near $0.088. Further up, the 200-day EMA near $0.092 adds to the broader upside pressure.

With the Relative Strength Index (RSI) edging just below the neutral 50 mark and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line remaining below zero, momentum is still weak. Rallies could face difficulty as long as these barriers hold.

The first upside obstacle is the $0.085–$0.086 cluster formed by the 100-day and 50-day EMAs. Next comes the convergence of former rising-trend support and a horizontal barrier near $0.088. The 200-day EMA around $0.092 presents a further hurdle, ahead of the key horizontal ceiling at approximately $0.102.

Immediate downside support lies at about $0.077. A decisive breach would open the way to further weakness. If that floor holds, the pair would remain in consolidation within its current bearish-biased range.
